First time to Italy, and me & Ken landed to Pisa. Feeling excited, and looking forward to spending sometime together before we see our friends for James & Tori Wedding. After a smooth flight from Liverpool, we were eager to get get to see the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, but the most important thing that Ken wanted to do was to have Pizza in Pisa!
So first stop is taxi to Hotel Bologna, and was given a map of Pisa and a thorough instructions of places to see.
After off-loading our luggage in our hotel, we head for the train station... to work out our time for next day to Florence. But we were very hungry, because last time we eat was like 7am, a full english to share, so scanning places to eat while we were walking.
But during our journey to train station, ken nearly got pickpocket by a group of 3 young girls.... what happened? well a girl walked up to us and opened a newspaper asking us can we read it, but suddenly i just heard the Ken swore 'get the fuck off me!' and thats because a second girl start touching kens arm, so Ken reacted in a very instinctive, yet aggressive way to deter them... which shocked them stand there like a block. I was shocked too.... but when i took a look there where 3 of them, and if we were not streetwise and acted naively we would have been robbed! So be careful! Pickpockets in little gangs is notorious, and our guidebooks warned us too... good job!
Me & Ken was a tad shaken, me gripping hold of my hand bag and being suspicious everyone around us, we quickly walked to the train station, find out the info we needed, and we were greeted with the most familiar brand - McDonalds . We were that hungry we didnt care, and like ken say sticking to something we know.
So went in through the doorway, in front of eyes was MaccyD's, but on our side was Chef Express... which did a choice pizza deals for 6Euros, but we were drawn to the board which you get a slice of pizza, a portion of chicken nuggets and a drink. So 2 of those, and we find a seat and eat..... although it was junk food, but we were really happy, it tasted really yummy, but anything would taste good when ur hungry plus it wasnt MaccyDs at the end- but it was funny because it made Ken's day for having Italian pizza in Pisa.
After pizza, we were full of energy, and ready to venture out to see the Leaning Tower, the Duomo & monastry.
We've climbed up the Tower, and it was such a weird experience..... was worth it, to say you done it even for just once.
After ogling at the Leaning Tower, it was time for some gelatos in the hot weather - resting on the grass.
A really good day ended with a meal at a small family chinese restaurant.... again dont care we were hungry... it was good value for money and it filled us up!
Overall view on Pisa, had a really good time for a day trip, if it wasnt the Tower... theres not much to do ;p
I enjoy cooking and baking and like to experiment with new recipes and revisit childhood favourites. I think food is not just about nourishment, but also a way to inspire & strengthen peoples friendships. Here is my collection of my recipes.

Dad ordered some really yummy food that was suitable for the 6 of us to eat.
But the highlight of the night must be the Happy Birthday song with the cake and followed by opening pressies.

Koreana - Korean Night for Elaine's 30th
7:30pm and it was time to celebrate Elaine's turning a new chapter into the big 3-0 with her favourite... korean food.
Koreana in Manchester near Kendals. It was a small but intimate, a good number to talk to everyone.
We opted for a 12 ppl Koreana Special - a huge banquet which the dishes consist of
Sogalbee Banquet (Beef Flat Rib), Haemooltang Banquet (Sea Food Hot Pot), Kimchichigae Banquet (Kimchi Hot Pot), Saewootwighim Banquet (King Prawn), Dwenjang Chigae Banquet (Soyabean Hotpot), Duruchigi Banquet (Pork+Noodle+Tofu), Ojing-O Bokum Banquet (Squid), Sam-Gyupsal Banquet (Pork), Chicken (Dak Gang Jun), So Bulgogi (Beef),Duck Dak Bulgogi, & Chicken Dolsot Bibim Bab
Together With Steamed Rice, Fresh Soup Of The Day, Kimchi, Seasoned Oriental Salad Vegetables, Miniature Potato And Beef Pancakes, Shallow-fried Pieces Of Fish Fillet & Courgettes in batter.
So lots of food... that the waitress came to ask us if its ok to split the food up to a 2 courses. When all the food came out, they all look beautifully presented!
Anyway, general opinion is Korean food is on a spicy side..... i didnt realise that. But still i really enjoyed the food, esp the tofu soup very light, the kimchi, the cold pickled salad - love this salad think i almost ate the whole bowl, thin seaweed sheets. It was spicy enough for me to handle, but could not eat lots of before i go running with a stomachahe.
After all the food, so it was time for the birthday girl to cut the cake & open those pressies!
