Heard soo much, and was delighted that im finally here.
Anyway, first thing we did in arrival the town was to go to the tourist info and decided we would go on the sightseeing bus to get our bearings of the place, and getting a short history. It also a good way to see all the attractions whereabouts without getting lost hehe ;p
After that the most immediate matter was food..... lunch!! How can you go to Yorkshire and not go for a pub sunday lunch eh? So after a street of choice, we decided to walk in a very old English pub 'The Hole in the Wall'.
I ordered a Scampi with chips and Ken opted for the Roast pork with stuffing & veg, and gravy. Tell ya... that gravy tasted lush!
Now fed and energised, we head for the attractions.... The York Minster Cathedral... it does look amazing, and going up those 245 steps to see the view of York, was just fabulous. But it still knackers you out!
We then went to the Railway Museum..... this one is for Ken... but i have to admit, i really enjoyed coming here, seeing the lifesize train, the old trains you see in period/era movies.....from steam to japanese shinkasen....especially the Royal train carriages - think one of them is Queen Victoria.... soo beautifully decorated!
The hotel we stayed in was just wow - The Grange Hotel, as they put us in a good size room with 4 poster bed which was very comfy, but it was abit tall for me.... i had to climb on the mattress!! One thing i am most impressed, that there was a TV in the wall in the bathroom!! how good is that!?
Not too sure about the restaurant though.... had dinner whilst staying... but i think it was pretty average.
Monday all fresh ready to carry on in looking at York.... we walked around, and i think the buildings are soo cute, abit lopsided and funny shape... but some of these buildings were built back in the 1600s.
We went to the Castle Museum and had a good gander of what the olden days was about.... took a few pics... and i think i was pretty museum-ed out.
But before say finito... our last was Clifford Tower, what's left of a Normandy castle, apparently was built by William the Conqueror... and lol, in the olden days the caretaker sold brick by brick from the inside??!!
Before we head back home we cant leave without going into a tearoom... and this is my highlight of this trip.... we went in a place called Teddy bear tearoom! Was amazing, even the table we sat was abit lopsided, because its a very old building.... we not eat anything extravagant... just simple home-made veg soup... and a pot of yorkshire tea.... but the experience have rounded my trip to York with a good childish way ;p
One thing for sure... i took a picture outside the place to remember for ever!
