It's simple and make delicious biscuits, and once mastered other variations will follow without many ill effects.
Makes 1 batch
Ingredients:
250gm/1cup Butter softened
140gm Icing Sugar
1tsp Vanilla Extract
1 Large Egg Yolk
375g/2 3/4cup Plain Flour
Instructions:
1) Beat the butter and sugar together in large bowl until very pale and fluffy.
2) Add vanilla and egg yolk and mix well.
3)Sift in the flour and mix until forms a firm dough
4)Use your hands and work it into a smooth ball.
5)Wrap the dough in cling film and put it in the fridge for an hour.
6)Preheat oven 190C/Gas mark 5 and either brush some butter on the baking seet or line with silicone liner.
7)Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface until it is about 3mm thick, then cut out shapes with your cutters, and put it on the baking sheet
8)Put it in oven for 10-12 minutes or until the biscuits go golden brown.
9)Once baked, transfer the biscuits to a wire rack to let it harden and cool.
